Motorists are being urged to avoid Forest Road in Newport while engineers work to resolve a water problem near Hunnyhill Primary School.

Southern Water engineers are at the scene, where hay bales have reportedly been used in an attempt to soak up excess water.

A large puddle has also formed near the junction with Standen Avenue.

Traffic is building in the area, although the cause and severity of the problem have yet to be confirmed.

It is not yet clear how long the work will take, with drivers advised to find an alternative route for the time being.
