Warning Over Fire Risks Linked To Emollient Creams

Fire and health services are warning Isle of Wight residents about the fire risks associated with emollient creams.
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service, NHS Hampshire and Isle of Wight and community pharmacies have relaunched a safety campaign.
Emollients can build up on clothing, bedding and dressings, making them easier to ignite and causing fires to burn more intensely.
Seven incidents involving emollients across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight over the past four years have resulted in serious injuries or deaths.
People using emollients are being urged never to smoke in bed, take care around naked flames and heat sources, wash clothing and bedding regularly, and make sure smoke alarms are working.
