A new café and bakery has today (Tuesday) opened its doors in Newport, adding a fresh new flavour to the Island’s growing culinary scene.

Treats & Eats Bakeshop — based at the former Graces Bakery site on Pyle Street — is the creation of Constantin and Nataliia Kyrychenko, a husband-and-wife team who moved to the Island in 2022 from Kyiv in the Ukraine.

Three years on, they are bringing their hospitality experience and passion for food to the local community with a space that promises an original menu and a warm, friendly and inviting environment.

“The idea for the café came from our wish to give back something to the place that had welcomed us, said Nataliia.
"Arriving here we were immediately struck by the Island’s natural beauty, its calm atmosphere and most of all the kindness and generosity of local people who made us feel part of the community.”

The couple, who have extensive experience in the restaurant industry across Ukraine and Europe, are aiming to create more than just a bakery and café.

“We want it to be a meeting place of different cultures, tastes and stories,” said Constantin.

Treats & Eats Bakeshop will prioritise local sourcing wherever possible, with local ingredients supplied by Island producers.

The couple say they are committed to supporting the local economy, creating jobs and showcasing local produce as well as respecting the Island’s cultural heritage and natural resources.
