Three New Homes Proposed On Vacant Ryde Site

A vacant site close to Ryde town centre could be redeveloped with three new two-bedroom houses.

Ebb Developments has submitted plans for a terrace of two-storey homes at 25 Newport Street.

The houses would each have a front garden, with an entrance hall, open-plan kitchen, dining and living space on the ground floor, and two bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs.

A supporting statement says the development would make use of a previously developed site and help add to the Island’s housing supply.

It says the proposals would also fill a gap in the Newport Street frontage, while providing private outdoor space, cycle and bin storage, landscaping and solar panels.

The statement says the site is within walking distance of public transport, shops, schools, services and other facilities.

It also says no unacceptable impacts have been identified in relation to highway safety, neighbouring properties, the character of the area, heritage, drainage or ecology.

The Isle of Wight Council's public consultation on application 26/01289/FUL runs until October 23.

A decision is scheduled to be made on November 18.
