Temporary Road Closure Introduced In Freshwater

A temporary road closure has been put in place on Avenue Road in Freshwater to allow emergency works to be carried out.

The closure affects Avenue Road between the junction with Avenue Road Car Park and the junction with High Street — a stretch measuring approximately 103 metres.

In addition, temporary changes have been made to existing one-way restrictions.

The one-way order on Avenue Road, between Avenue Road Car Park and Tennyson Road, has been revoked, along with the one-way restriction on the entirety of Tennyson Road.

The restrictions came into force at 06:29 this morning (Tuesday 12th May 2026) and will remain in place for up to 5 days, or until works are completed.

The closure has been implemented by Ringway Island Roads on behalf of the Isle of Wight Council under emergency traffic regulation powers.
