Sussex Joins Isle Of Wight In Prolonged Dry Weather

Sussex has been placed into a state of prolonged dry weather by the Environment Agency, 11 days after Hampshire and the Isle of Wight were given the same status.
The move follows continued hot weather, low rainfall and increasing demand for water across the region.
South East Water has also confirmed temporary hosepipe restrictions will come into force across Hampshire, Sussex, Surrey and Berkshire from Saturday (25 July), joining Kent.
The Environment Agency says prolonged dry weather allows it to respond more quickly to environmental impacts and manage water resources if conditions worsen.
Richard O'Callaghan, Environment Planning & Engagement Manager, said everyone should use water wisely to help protect rivers and the wider environment.
