A comedy show exploring the history of vibrators and changing attitudes towards female sexuality is coming to Dimbola Museum & Galleries in Freshwater later this month.

Vibrate, written and performed by Jo Larcombe and Karin Wall, will take place on Saturday 24 October.

The production combines storytelling and original songs to explore the subject, from Victorian-era inventions and the concept of female “hysteria” to modern discussions around sexual health, wellbeing and self-care.

Organisers say the show aims to mix historical discoveries with humour, while examining how society's attitudes towards female pleasure have changed over time.

Jo Larcombe said she wanted to present the history in a way that was funny, accessible and surprising, with songs included in the performance.

Doors open at 6pm, with the show starting at 6.30pm.

There will be a 15-minute interval with a pay bar, and the evening is expected to finish at around 8.45pm.
