Children will be able to enjoy Halloween crafts, spooky storytelling and animal encounters at Isle of Wight libraries during the October half-term.

Lord Louis Library in Newport will host activities including sock puppet making, Halloween rock painting and sugar skull mask making, starting on Monday 19 October.

Cowes and Ventnor libraries will offer spooky storytelling sessions, with Ventnor welcoming storyteller Salty Simon for a special Halloween event.

Children in Cowes can also take part in a portrait craft activity.

Sandown Library will run monster-themed junk modelling and a clay foam workshop for children aged four and over.

Meanwhile, the Bat Hospital will visit Ryde Library, giving families the chance to learn about bats and see the nocturnal animals up close.

A separate bat-themed craft session and Halloween story time are planned for Saturday 31 October.

Freshwater Library will offer miniature book-making and recycled book decoration workshops.

Some activities are free, while others may have a charge.

Details of the full programme are available at www.iow.gov.uk/thelibrary or via the Isle of Wight Libraries Facebook page.
