Northwood House played host to a night of celebration yesterday as the Red Funnel Isle of Wight Awards returned for their sixth year, shining a spotlight on the Island’s outstanding tourism businesses, attractions and hidden gems.

This year’s awards saw 154 businesses put themselves forward, with locals and visitors showing huge support by casting an impressive 52,940 votes.

From boutique B&Bs and standout restaurants to unique shops and family-friendly experiences, 50 winners were named across 58 categories, receiving Gold, Silver or Bronze awards across Places to Stay, Things to Do, Food & Drink and the popular Isle of Woof dog-friendly category.

Among the standout first-time winners were The Albion, crowned Best Hotel; Hewitt’s, named Best Restaurant; and The Christmas Imaginarium, which took home Best Shop after winning over voters with its year-round festive magic.

Gayle Craven, Managing Director at The Albion, said:

“We were delighted to have made the finals this year.
"It took us 18 months and considerable investment bringing The Albion to life, but it was well worth it.
"Coming to the end of our first full year, the team has done an amazing job delivering an exceptional hotel – a truly 5-star result, which is loved by locals and visitors alike.”

Russell Ince of The Christmas Imaginarium added:

“Making it into the top three at the Isle of Wight Awards was a huge honour for us.
"We pour our heart and soul into making The Christmas Imaginarium a special place filled with magic and wonder all year round, so to be recognised by the community and customers who make that possible means the world to us.”

The Red Funnel Island Tourism Hero Award returned for its second year, celebrating individuals or organisations that go the extra mile for Island tourism.

The 2025 title was awarded to Wildheart Animal Sanctuary’s Benji and Balu, whose remarkable rescue story has captured the hearts of thousands.

The two Brown Bears, brought to the Island after being found living in a cramped cage beside a restaurant, now enjoy a spacious enclosure and their own pool — and have become firm favourites with both residents and visitors.

Their 24-hour live webcam has already attracted over 2 million views, while 90,000 people have visited the sanctuary since their arrival.

Red Funnel’s Commercial Director, Lee Hudson, praised the hard work and passion behind the Island’s tourism sector:

“The Isle of Wight is bursting with brilliant businesses and passionate people who work tirelessly to make the Island a one-of-a-kind destination.
"These businesses bring the Island’s character to life and help it thrive all year round.
"Hosting the Red Funnel Isle of Wight Awards each year is a true highlight in our calendar and it’s wonderful to celebrate the creativity, passion and hard work of so many local people.”

Winners were chosen by a panel of four judges: Camilla Hewitt (Country & Town House), Christian Warren (Style of Wight), Amy Summers (Visit Isle of Wight) and Lee Hudson (Red Funnel).

Nominations for the 2026 Red Funnel Isle of Wight Awards open in January.
