Islanders affected by Parkinson’s, along with their families and carers, are being invited to a free information and support event in Newport tomorrow (Friday).

Organised by Parkinson’s UK, the event will bring together specialist nurses, local volunteers and research experts to share advice, support and the latest developments in Parkinson’s research.

Representatives from community organisations will also be available to answer questions and provide guidance. A quiet space will be provided, while refreshments will be available to buy from the venue’s café.

The event takes place at The Riverside Centre in Newport, from 10.30am until 4pm on Friday, October 16.

Free places can be booked at iowparkinsonsuk.eventbrite.co.uk.

Parkinson’s is a progressive neurological condition with more than 40 symptoms, including tremors, pain and anxiety. There is currently no cure.

For further information and support, visit parkinsons.org.uk or call the charity’s free, confidential helpline on 0808 800 0303.
