Brave Island is excited to have just announced two new free courses as part of a new multi-year project taking place in The Bay Area, supported by the Esmee Fairbairn Foundation.
Young people between the ages of 14 and 25 can apply now to both the Circus Skills and Street Dance courses.
Circus Skills
The Circus Skills course will be led by Isle of Wight based circus artists Kai Davies and Azaria Wood (Founder of Wild Woods Workshops). You may have seen them performing or teaching workshops at events such as Isle of Wight Festival and Ventnor Fringe. This course will cover a range of circus skills including Juggling, Hula Hoop, and Aerial. There’s no need to have had any experience in any of these skills before, it will be a fun way to discover a new hobby and meet new people.
This course will run from 4-6pm every Tuesday from the 3rd June until the 15th July at The Bay CE School in Sandown. There is also an opportunity for the young people to showcase their new found skills at Ventnor Fringe later in July.
Street Dance
Brave Island’s Street Dance course will be taught by Funk Format, Portsmouth’s leading street dance organisation with 25 years of experience. This exciting opportunity is open to all skill levels, offering a fun and welcoming environment to learn basic street dance moves, improve coordination, build confidence, and meet new people. Don't miss this chance to experience the energy and joy of street dance!
The Street Dance course will run in two age groups on Sundays, at The Heights Leisure Centre in Sandown. 14-17 year olds from 10am – 11am and 18-25 year olds from 11.30am – 12.30pm from Sunday 8th June until the 6th July.
