Wightlink has confirmed disruption to its FastCat service will continue into this (Monday) morning, with several early sailings cancelled due to an ongoing mechanical issue.

Four sailings were cancelled on Sunday evening – the 21:45 and 22:45 departures from Portsmouth Harbour, and the 22:15 and 23:10 services from Ryde Pier Head.

The cross-Solent operator has now confirmed that a further four sailings on Monday morning will not run.

These include the 05:15am and 06:15am departures from Portsmouth Harbour, and the 05:40am and 06:45am services from Ryde Pier Head – bringing the total number of cancellations to eight.

Wightlink says it is currently unclear when the FastCat service will return to a full timetable.

In the meantime, all Wightlink tickets and passes will be accepted on the Portsmouth to Fishbourne car ferry route.

The disruption follows a difficult day for foot passengers on the Solent, with Hovertravel suspending its service for much of Sunday.

Hovertravel is expected to resume operations as normal on Monday morning.

Wightlink has apologised for the disruption and any inconvenience caused to passengers’ travel plans.
