The Isle of Wight Council has launched a public consultation on proposed traffic regulation changes designed to improve road safety and traffic flow across several streets in Gunville, Newport.

Residents and local stakeholders can now view the draft order on the council’s website, and are being encouraged to share their feedback via the online consultation.

The deadline for responses is 12pm on Friday 12 December 2025.

Michelle Love, the council’s Service Director for Highways and Community Protection, said:

“These changes are part of our ongoing commitment to making Isle of Wight roads safer and more accessible for everyone.
"By addressing known pinch points and improving visibility, we’re helping create a more reliable and secure environment for residents, visitors and emergency services alike.”

Proposals include the introduction of ‘No Waiting at Any Time’ restrictions on parts of Arthur Moody Drive, Broadwood Lane, Forest Hills and Park Close.

The measures aim to reduce hazards for road users and pedestrians, improve access for all vehicles, and support a new development in the area.

Full details and the consultation form are available on the council website under Traffic Regulation Order Consultation – Various Streets, Gunville.
