Appeal For Witnesses Following Criminal Damage In Sandown

Police are appealing for witnesses following a report of criminal damage in Sandown last weekend.
It was reported that between 9pm and 10pm a man has been seen acting suspiciously and carrying a brick on High Street, Sandown.
On officer attendance, a shopfront has been found damaged, with a hole in the glass of the front door and damage to the shopfront’s windows.
As part of an investigation into the circumstances of this incident, a 53-year-old man from Sandown has been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage to property valued under £5,000.
He has been bailed with conditions until Friday 8 May whilst enquiries continue.
A spokesperson for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said:
"We would like to speak to anyone who saw what happened, including a person we believe was approached by the man seen in the area around the time of the incident.
"If you were in the area and witnessed the incident please call 101 and quote 44260066827.
"Additionally, we’d like to hear from you if you have CCTV, dashcam, mobile phone, or doorbell camera footage that may assist our enquiries."
