125 Trees To Be Given To Island Schools And Community Groups

Schools and community groups across the Isle of Wight are being offered free trees as part of celebrations marking the 125th Royal Isle of Wight County Show.

Natural Enterprise is giving away 125 trees from its Gift to Nature Community Tree Nursery at Shide Meadows Centre.

The nursery brings together volunteers and local conservation knowledge to grow trees for planting across the Island.

It currently has more than 3,000 trees at different stages of growth, with that number expected to double as seeds are collected this autumn.

Gift to Nature Ranger Jon Jewett says the project is keen to support tree planting across the Island.

Schools and community groups can also visit one of Gift to Nature's 32 sites to take part in this year's seed collection and learn about growing trees at the nursery.
