Miriam Margolyes, Aggers And Tuffers And Plastic Mermaids To Headline Wight Proms 2024

The Wight Proms Festival has announced its 2024 line-up.

The festival celebrates comedy, opera, drag, country music, sport, musical theatre, dance and classical proms, and takes place annually in August at Northwood House in Cowes.

This year sees a new logo for the festival and a new site layout.

Headliners announced include:

  • Award-winning actress MIRIAM MARGOLYES OBE
  • Cricket legends AGGERS & TUFFERS AKA JONATHAN AGNEW & PHIL TUFNELL
  • Island favourites PLASTIC MERMAIDS who are performing with a live orchestra their only gig on the Isle of Wight this year
  • Winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK DANNY BEARD & fellow RuPaul star SCARLETT HARLETT, hosted by TANYA HYDE
  • ANTHEMS IBIZA ORCHESTRA featuring 1990s tunes from the likes of Fat Boy Slim, The Chemical Brothers, Faithless, Daft Punk, Ian Van Dahl, Prodigy and many more
  • Family favourite PETER & THE WOLF with wind quintet

  • Musical Theatre Legends JOHN OWEN JONES, famous for playing the roles of Phantom (The Phantom of the Opera) and Jean Valjean (Les Mis) in both the West End and Broadway
  • JENNA LEE-JAMES who has just played the role of Elsa in Disney’s Frozen on the West End
  • JOHN PARTRIDGE who has starred in many shows on the West End including Cats, Grease, Starlight Express, Cabaret and La Cage Aux Folles
  • Soprano FARYL SMITH who shot to fame as a 12-year-old on Britain’s Got Talent in 2008, is now a graduate of the Opera Course at the Guildhall School in London

The Wight Proms Festival, sponsored by Red Funnel, was founded in 2018 by Cowes resident Mike Christie, who is also know for being in the multi-platinum selling vocal harmony group G4, who shot to fame on The X Factor back in 2004.

This year marks G4’s 20th Anniversary with two Island performances at the Medina Theatre in June and Newport Minster in November amongst their mega 110 tour dates.

Tickets go on sale at 10am on Friday (May 10) and can be purchased online.

There are ‘Meet & Greet’ tickets available to have the chance to meet some of the headliners, and when buying tickets, you can donate to the Wight Proms Festival’s associated island charity ‘Independent Arts’ which uses the arts to improve well-being, quality of life and to reduce social isolation on the Isle of Wight.
