Heavy Winds On The Way As Yellow Weather Warning Issued For Isle Of Wight

A Yellow Weather Warning has been issued for high winds on the Isle of Wight.

The warning will be in place from 7am until 6pm tomorrow (Thursday).

Forecasters said gusts could reach 70mph across the south coast - and there is a risk of hail and thunder.

"Strong winds and large coastal waves may lead to hazardous conditions," the Met Office said.

"The weather may impact transport networks, including ferry services, and there is a slight chance of power cuts.

"There is a small chance that injuries and danger to life could occur from large waves and beach material being thrown onto sea fronts, coastal roads and properties."

  • There is a slight chance that power cuts may occur, with the potential to affect other services, such as mobile phone coverage
