New Online Cancer Support For Local Residents

Nat Woods

Wessex Cancer Support has expanded its services so anyone can access cancer support online.

The charity, which provides free, local and personalised wellbeing support to anyone affected by cancer on the Isle of Wight, runs four cancer support centres in Newport, Bournemouth, Chandler’s Ford and Hythe.

The online service has been developed as the charity recognises that it can often be hard to travel to a support centre at a convenient time.

Katie Davies, Wessex Cancer Support’s project manager, says:

"We’re striving to replicate online what we offer in our support centres, including counselling, support groups and therapies.

"You’ll have the opportunity to chat to our Wellbeing Coordinator and identify the support that suits you best.

"We know that taking the first steps to accessing support can feel a bit daunting, but we’re only a few clicks away and promise all the compassion and understanding you’d find in our support centres.”

Nat was 44 when she was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. She says:

“Cancer literally took my life and shook it like a snow globe.

"Thyroid cancer made conversations hard and exhausting, and I felt so isolated.

"I avoid going out, so the online sound therapy, meditation and friendships have been a lifeline.”

The new online services are designed for anyone affected by cancer.

You may have cancer yourself, be supporting someone with cancer, or be bereaved.
