A yacht, with a crew of 18 sailors taking part in the Round the Island Race, ran aground off St Catherine's Point this morning.
Yarmouth RNLI came out to assist the vessel at around 11.30am, when they came too close to the shore and got stuck.
With the help of their RIB and two other privately owned RIBS, they were able to pull the yacht free so it could continue its course towards Bembridge.
