Wightlink Environmental Grant Deadline Approaches For Isle of Wight Primary Schools

There is still time for primary schools on the Island to apply for a share of a £10,000 fund set up by Wightlink.

Under the Wightlink Green Fund for Schools initiative, grants — typically between £500 and £1,000 in value — are available for educational projects.

The fund aims to bring lasting environmental benefit to schools and communities and to help Islanders live in a more sustainable way.

The fund — open to all Island primary schools — is part of Wightlink’s commitments to sustainable travel and working with the local community.

Wightlink chief executive, Keith Greenfield, said:

“We have received some interesting ideas from schools since the fund was launched at the beginning of the month but there is still time for others to submit their ideas.

“We are looking for projects that offer a positive environmental impact, encourage and protect wildlife or raise awareness of green issues."

Initiatives that leave a legacy, provide ongoing education or continue past the funding year will also be looked upon favourably.

Further details and an application form can be found online.

The deadline for applications is Friday 18 February.
