WATCH: Isle Of Wight Grandfather And Granddaughter's Heartwarming Song For NHS

An Isle of Wight grandfather and granddaughter are hoping their new song will raise vital money for the NHS.

Paul Larkin - or Pop Paul to 10-year-old Syra - has teamed up with his granddaughter for NHS 'Charities Together'.

The pair have written and performed a song titled, 'Thank You Very Much To The NHS'.

The idea came about after lockdown meant Syra could no longer take part in music lessons at school. Paul said:

"I started providing weekly music lessons with her via Zoom and as these progressed with her we looked at undertaking a music project that would purposeful and would hopefully provide some benefit to people.

"We have seen and learnt about the amazing work that the NHS doctors, nurses and teams have been doing day after day during the last year over and above expectations.

"I decided I would summarise the events of what has happened over the past year and put the words into a song in which we could say thank you to the NHS staff for their amazing work, with the purpose of trying to raise as much money as possible to provide the NHS “Charities Together” with funds for which they could give help to all the NHS staff that need it now or sometime in the future."

"Syra wanted to be part of this project and the fundraising following her love of music and so joined me on the song."

Paul and Syra received some help from Water Rats Studio, although they perform all of the instrumental and singing themselves.

So far, more more than £600 has been raised.
