Warning Of Heavy Rain And Thunder

WEATHER: The Isle of Wight Met service is forecasting heavy rain and strong winds this evening (Wednesday).

Rainfall of up to 30mm could be seen in some areas, accompanied by wind gusts of up to 60mph.

A warning will come into force at 6pm tonight, until 3am tomorrow.

The Isle of Wight Met Service said:

"A large area of rain will spread across the island from the southwest through this evening, some of which will become very heavy at times with locally torrential downpours, perhaps even accompanied by the odd rumble of thunder.

"Strong wind gusts of up to 60mph may also accompany some of the heaviest downpours.

"Rainfall totals will be highly variable, with some areas seeing perhaps around 8-10mm, but locally there could be totals closer to 30mm."
