Warning After Stranger 'Approaches Schoolboy Offering Sweets' In Newport

A schoolboy was approached by a stranger offering sweets in Newport this afternoon (Thursday), parents say.

It's alleged a man, wearing a black hoodie, got out of his vehicle to talk to the child.

The incident is said to have happened at around 3.22pm on Caesars Road, near to Victoria Recreation Ground.

The child, who is said to have been approached, declined the offer of sweets.

It has prompted parents to take to Facebook to warn others. 

Isle of Wight Radio has asked Hampshire Constabulary for a comment.

A police spokesperson said:

"We have received a report of a man offering a child sweets in Caesars Road around 3.20pm today (April 22).

"Enquiries are ongoing, but no crimes have currently been identified."
