Volunteers Sought For Isle Of Wight's Citizens Advice Team

New volunteers are being sought to offer free advice on housing, relationships, tax credits and health - among other things.

Citizens Advice Isle of Wight needs volunteers to help answer the phones to ensure Island residents get the help they need.

The charity believes everyone is entitled to the information that affects their lives.

It aims to:

  • provide the advice people need for the problems they face
  • improve the policies and practices that affect people's lives.

Paul Savill, CEO at the charity, said:

“The current demand for our telephone advice service is high.

“People commonly call about changes to their income, access to benefits, housing issues, money and tax.

“Volunteering can be done from home and we provide full training which is currently being delivered online.

“We’ve had lots of success in helping volunteers gain experience and build up their confidence if they are looking to get back into work and we have amazing volunteers who have worked with us for many years.”

Anyone thinking about joining the team of advisers should call 823898 or visit www.citizensadviceiw.org.uk
