'Upsetting News' Isle Of Wight Donkey Sanctuary Vandalised

Isle Of Wight Donkey Sanctuary

The Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary has been vandalised and a magnet was set on fire and thrown in a field with the donkeys.

Staff and volunteers at the sanctuary say they are 'upset' as they have been working to improve the site with new signage and boards.

But last night (Friday) at the site in Wroxall, magnets were stolen from the boards and one was alight and could have set the donkeys on fire.

The sanctuary says the vandalism has 'an obvious impact on the donkeys'.

'We do not normally put complaints or sad posts onto our social media, but we feel that we need to speak about something, and also ask for your help.

'We have spent a lot of time and hard work trying to improve the site, adding new boards, new information and new signage. We are very proud of what we have created and have loved hearing the feedback we have received about these from our visitors and how much they are being enjoyed.

'However, on our herd boards, we have found that a number of name magnets have been taken from our boards and not put back. These all come at a cost to us, and we would all prefer to be spending that money on the donkeys themselves.

'On a more serious note, we also found one of the name magnets in a field with the donkeys. It had been set on fire and burnt, and then thrown in with the donkeys. We do not understand why anyone would choose to do this, it is very upsetting and has an obvious impact on the safety of our donkeys. If anyone has any information about this we would all really appreciate if you could let us know.'
