Updated Covid Vaccination Figures For Isle Of Wight As Positive Cases Pass 20,000

Vaccination figures for the Isle of Wight show a large number of people getting their second dose in recent days.

The update comes after yesterday's (Thursday's) Covid case numbers for the Island passed 20,000 with 117 new cases taking the total since March last year to 20,094.

According to government data, a total of 112,099 first doses have been administered to people on the Isle of Wight.

The number of second doses delivered now stands at 104,630.

Meanwhile, boosters/third doses total 67,707, meaning the Island's total number stands at 284,336.

According to newly released data, the Isle of Wight population in 2021 is 142,296, meaning around 79% of people here have received their first vaccine.

Just over 73% of people have received their second dose and 47% have had their booster/third dose to date.

It's worth noting that not everyone is eligible for the Covid-19 vaccine, so these numbers may not reflect those who have chosen to abstain.

Across the UK, almost 90% of the population aged 12-plus have received a first dose, with 81.5% having their second and 44% their booster/third dose.
