Sun, Sea, Sangria And More Beach Huts For Sandown

Plans to add to the number of beach huts along Sandown Esplanade have been unveiled.

Central Beach has asked the Isle of Wight Council for permission to add eight more at their site near the pier as rental demand has grown over the last few years.

The huts would sit on the beach opposite Premier Inn and the now derelict Ocean Hotel and be in the same familiar blue colour and traditional style as the two existing huts.

Central Beach say the huts are designed to sustain the look and feel of a traditional seaside tourist resort.

Planning documents say the huts would not interfere with the views from the Premier Inn but in the case of run-down Ocean Hotel, would add to the character and style of that stretch of beach.

The additional huts, the company says, will not negatively impact the environment as the beach has plenty of room for the temporary structures.

The huts would be removed during the winter when the weather changes and there is a higher flood risk.

The section of the beach the huts is on, Central Beach lease from the council and they say it is in their interest to ensure the huts are well kept and attractive to the public.
