The Isle of Wight Warriors speedway team came out on top in the second leg of their tournament.

After a shaky start in leg one, Wightlink Warriors won the second leg of their Three Team Tournament amounting a total of 34 points.

Arran Butcher was called up to cover for the injured Alex Spooner and managed a nine point return.

Teammates Ben Morley also picked up an impressive 11 points. Skipper Danno Verge got eight points whilst the often unpredictable Connor King registered six points to make the overall total.

The win brings the Isle of Wight-based team within six points of leaders Cradley and just three behind Weymouth.

That means with one leg to go it's still all to play for.

The third and final round will take place at Smallbrook Stadium on August 16.

The result comes after the team manager Steve Piper told his riders they 'could not relax at all' ahead on Thursday's event.

Meanwhile, in round two of the NORA British Women's Championship, there was success for the Isle of Wight's Steph Whitlock.

Whitlock has now moved up to third position, just four points behind the leaders.

This leaves Whitlock with a great chance of a podium finish in the final round on Tuesday, August 2.
