Southampton Man Charged Following Ryde Pier 'Scissor Assault'

A man has been charged following an incident - allegedly involving a pair of scissors - on Ryde Pier yesterday (Tuesday).

Police say 30-year-old Ryan Peter Michael Ward, from Westridge Road, Southampton, has been charged with two offences.

Officers say he has been charged with wounding with intent and for possession of an offensive weapon.

As previously reported by Isle of Wight Radio, a man was taken to hospital with stab wounds yesterday afternoon.

A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said:

'We were called at 12.59pm on 16 June to reports of a serious assault on the pier after a man was stabbed with a pair of scissors.

'On arrival, officers located a 31-year-old man with a stab wound. He was taken to St Mary’s Hospital for treatment.'
