Six Of The Best As Newport Hammer East Cowes Vics

Newport ran out comfortable winners against East Cowes Vics in the Wessex League First Division last night (Tuesday).

In front of a crowd of more than 230, it was Newport who ran riot at Beatrice Avenue.

Goals from Aaron Burford, Jordan Browne and Joe Craig put Newport 3-0 up inside the first 30 minutes. Burford doubled his tally just minutes later, before Jake Wright added a fifth goal before half-time.

It was Vics who scored first in the second half when Toby Snow slotted home to make it 5-1.

Despite Newport captain, Martin McDonough, being sent off, The Port extended their lead through Joe Butcher who made it 6-1.

Newport's win leaves them 2nd in the table, two points behind Bemerton Heath Harlequins, with a game in hand. Vics stay 17th.

This Saturday (29), Newport travel to Romsey Town, while Vics are away to Infinity.

Final Score
