A man has been jailed after stealing hundreds of pounds worth of items from various stores in Newport.
Raymond Skelly, aged 45, appeared at Isle of Wight Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 1 August where he pleaded guilty to the following offences:
- Theft of £37 worth of alcohol from Sainsbury’s in Newport on 26 June.
- Theft of £300 worth of food, drink, laundry and electrical items from B&M in Newport on 6 July.
- Theft of £152 worth of food, drink and clothes from Sainsbury’s in Newport on 6 July.
- Theft of £158.99 worth of clothing from Sports Direct in Newport on 10 July.
- Theft of a drill worth £49.99 from B&M in Newport on 30 July.
- Theft of £274.93 worth of goods from B&M in Newport on 30 July.
Skelly, of Culver Parade in Sandown, was subsequently jailed for 20 weeks.
He has also been ordered to pay a £154 victim surcharge, and £85 in costs.
