Shanklin Man Charged Over String Of Violent Offences

An Isle of Wight man has been charged with a number of violent offences, including four counts of assaulting an emergency worker.

Bruno Borges, aged 34, of Queens Road in Shanklin, was charged over the weekend with the following:

  • Assault occasioning actual bodily harm – relating to an incident on June 9 this year where it’s alleged he assaulted a woman known to him on a bus en route to East Cowes, resulting in the woman suffering a chipped tooth.
  • Assault by beating – it’s alleged he assaulted a woman at an address in Queens Road, Shanklin, on May 12 this year.
  • Criminal damage on May 12 this year, relating to a mobile phone.
  • Four counts of assaulting an emergency worker, namely police officers, on Queens Road, Shanklin on May 12 this year.

Borges was remanded in custody to appear at Southampton Magistrates’ Court on Saturday June 11.

At the hearing, he was remanded further and will next appear at Isle of Wight Crown Court on July 11.
