UPDATE: Dangerous Sex Offender Arrested In Skegness After Absconding From Prison

A dangerous on-the-run sex offender has been arrested in Skegness by police following a public appeal.

Paul Robson, who is serving a life sentence for attempted rape and indecent assault, was reported missing from HMP North Sea Camp in Boston, Lincolnshire, on Sunday.

East Area Commander Chief Superintendent Kate Anderson said:

"We are pleased to report that we have arrested Paul Robson.

"We are grateful to members of the public for their help and support in sharing our appeals and we'd also like to give thanks to everyone who has called in with potential sightings of him.

"We'd also like to extend our thanks to partner agencies and our officers for working tirelessly to apprehend Robson."

The force warned he posed a "particular danger to women and young children".

He was jailed for life in 2000 after he crawled into a woman's home through her cat flap before subjecting her to a series of attacks.

He put a pillowcase over his victim's head and held a knife to her throat during the attack in Oxford.

Robson, who already had a long history of violent sex attacks on women and young girls, was described by a judge at Oxford Crown Court as a "menace to females".

The sex offender had been in and out of prison for attacks against adult women and girls as young as eight in the 16 years before he was handed the life term.

In a statement on Sunday evening, Detective Chief Superintendent Andy Cox said:

"If you see Robson, please do not approach him, and do not try to apprehend him yourself. Call 999 immediately. We are really grateful for all the shares so far and rest assured we will continue our efforts to find and arrest him. Thank you."
