Sandown Hotel Could Be Sold For Nearly Three Million Pounds

The Trouville Hotel

A popular hotel in Sandown could be sold for nearly three million pounds.

The Trouville Hotel, located on the promenade, has been in the same family's ownership for over 40 years and is up for sale because the owner is due to retire.

It currently trades for most of the year, from the second week in February through to New Year, on mainly on a half board short-break basis to selected groups.

It’s hoped the Island’s two million visitors a year and Sandown appearing at the top of the UK's ‘Sunshine League’ -  a list of the country’s sunniest spots - will tempt a buyer to put in an offer.

The hotel - which is being sold by Christie & Co - has been consistently refurbished and updated since it was converted in the 1930s.

Recent improvements include:

  • Double glazing
  • Zoned central heating
  • Refurbishments to all of the 88 rooms
  •  On the ground floor, all the public rooms have been redecorated and boast panoramic sea views across Sandown Bay.
  • The hotel has the Island’s largest ballroom, which comes alive in the evening with live entertainment, making it the firm favourite with visitors for dancing holidays ranging from line dancing, sequence, jive, rock n roll and more.

Paul Moorman, the current owner, said:

“The family bought the hotel 42 years ago and have enjoyed working in this beautiful seaside location. The business has brought us significant repeat patronage from both private and group business throughout our tenure. We have decided to retire and to hand over the successful business to a new owner to take to the next level.”

Ed Bellfield, Regional Director at Christie & Co is handling the sale, he said:

“With the rise in demand for seaside resort led staycations in 2020 and forward bookings for 2021 increasing, there are significant opportunities for an owner-operator/investor to develop this business to the wider private market. The hotel has an unrivalled sea front position which will attract a wide range of buyers from single asset purchasers to multiple operators looking to add profitable businesses to their portfolios. We anticipate increased levels of interest from both domestic and international investors and operators.”

The Trouville Hotel is on the market with a guide price of £2,975,000 for the freehold.
