Red Jet Cancellations After Engine Fault

There are cancellations on the Red Jet service this morning (Wednesday).

As reported yesterday, tug boats were needed to escort the 12.15pm sailing back to port in Southampton.

The vessel, which had 54 passengers onboard, had already started its journey to the Island when a fault occurred.

Repairs are continuing into today, with Red Funnel announcing a number of further cancellations.

A Red Funnel spokesperson said:

“We have reviewed the repairs required on Red Jet 7 and works are due to continue. The 06:15, 07:35 and 08:55 services from Southampton and the 06:55, 08:15 and 09:35 services from West Cowes have been cancelled to enable these essential repairs to be made.

“We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience this will cause and we are keeping customers updated through text alerts, social media updates and our live service status.

"Our engineers are working hard to get Red Jet 7 back in service as quickly as possible. We encourage customers to consider using our vehicle ferry service as an alternative option, which is currently running to timetable.”
