Quarr Abbey Staff "Verbally Abused" By Rule-Breaking Dog Walkers

"Verbal abuse" is being aimed at Quarr Abbey staff by dog walkers not following the rules.

Dog poo not being cleared up, or bags thrown in trees and hedges, are among the incidents reported in recent weeks.

The Abbey said its staff are seeing a "large increase" in dog walkers not following policy.

Posting on Facebook, the Abbey said "this is not acceptable" and called on people to show more respect.

"It is the policy of the Abbey that all dogs must be on a lead at all times, this includes grounds, carpark, woodland walks and driveways.

"Dog poo, bag it, bin it in the bin provided by the council or take it home with you.

"Unfortunately we are experiencing a large increase in the number of dog walkers not following Abbey policy. Further more our staff are being subjected to verbal abuse.

"The garden team are dealing daily with dog poo that has not been cleared up or bags thrown in trees and hedges, which also impacts on the environment and wildlife."

The Abbey, which is classed as private land, said it appreciated not all dog walkers are breaking the rules.

Staff thanked those who continue to be respectful.
