Police Warning As Newport Rooftops Become A 'Playground' For Youths

'The rooftops appear to have become a dangerous playground' - that's the message from Isle of Wight Police.

They've released images of youngsters walking and jumping precariously on roofs in Newport.

They're urging parents to work with officers to make it stop.

Posting on Facebook, Isle of Wight Police said:

"The rooftops of Newport town centre appear to have become a playground in recent days for numerous children and young people.

"These pictures have kindly been taken by members of our Newport Shopwatch group and im sure they give you the anxiety they give me.

"The rooftops are highly dangerous let alone the damage which is being caused to buildings whilst individuals are up there drinking/ smoking and picnicking!!! The children can get up there via fire escapes which cannot be removed.

"We will be dealing with any individuals we find trespassing on the properties. If you recognise your child in the pictures please pop into Newport Police Station and speak to me. I’m happy to come and give them some suitable advice."

Good evening , I thought it might be worth popping these pictures up in the hope someone might recognise their child....
