Pictures: Isle Of Wight's Floating Bridge Heads For Cornwall

The Isle of Wight's floating bridge is leaving the Island — and has been pictured on its way to Falmouth.

The troubled vessel is heading west for its five-yearly Government inspection, as Isle of Wight Radio previously reported.

The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) inspection is a legal requirement for all passenger ferries, according to the Isle of Wight Council.

The chain ferry is being towed to Cornwall by company, Williams Shipping.

It is not expected to be back in service until April. A foot passenger replacement launch is in place until then.

Last week Isle of Wight Radio exclusively revealed the cost of the vessel on Island taxpayers.

The Isle of Wight Council spent close to £900,000 (£883,789) on repair costs alone.
