23 schools from across the Isle of Wight, including the Shanklin Brownies and the Sandown ladies sowing club are involved.

As previously reported, it is part of a new campaign being led by the Royal Marines Association on the Isle of Wight.

Isle of Wight children are being asked to play their part by creating poppies which will be displayed at the Quay Arts Centre, Newport.

They will be on show from November 3 to Remembrance Sunday. The Creative Industries Department, at Newport College, will design this display.

All the children and parents are invited to view the display, including the public who are most welcome.

An opening ceremony at 3pm on Saturday 6 November is planned, Islanders are invited to come along.

Rev’d Tony Richards will lead the prayers and give a blessing.
