Part of Briddlesford Road is shut to allow for emergency tree works.
The route is closed from Lynnbottom tip to the Robin Hill roundabout.
The council says the tip remains open as usual.
The local authority has been doing work to trees in many locations, including public parks and roadsides.
Over three days, work is being carried out to trim back or remove some potentially dangerous trees.
The section of the road will be shut until Friday (6).
