Parkhurst Pet Poisoning: Police Release Photo After Dog Left In "Immense Pain"

A photo of suspected poison has been released by police to warn Islanders, after a dog was left in "immense pain".

As Isle of Wight Radio previously reported, a dog had to be taken to the vet after consuming what was believed to be rat poison at Parkhurst Forest, Newport on Saturday (14).

Police said they were investigating whether the incident was deliberate - or not.

Officers have now revealed that the pet had been left in "immense pain and suffering" - and have released a photo to warn owners of the dangers.

A spokesperson said:

"There are numerous offences under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, the Protection of Animals Act 1911 and the Animal Welfare Act 2006 relating to placing this poison.

"If you have any information in relation to who is responsible for this please call 101 or report to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
If you live or walk in.

"I’ve added a picture of the latest poison found so if you do walk in the area please be vigilant."

Police say they have also received several reports of corn being placed on the paths, specifically around the Marks Corner section of Parkhurst Forest.
