No Return Date For Floating Bridge

It is not yet known when the troubled Floating Bridge will be back in action.

The service on the River Medina has been out of action since last Friday (27 Aug), after developing yet another fault.

In a statement, the Isle of Wight Council said:

"We would like to reassure residents that we are working closely with our contractors to bring the floating bridge back into service as swiftly as possible.

"The vessel has been out of action since Friday after developing a fault.

"Engineers have since identified an issue with a drive motor and we are now awaiting the results of further investigations to establish the remedial works required and likely timescales.

"We will provide a further update once we know more, including a return to service date as soon as it is known.

"In the meantime, a launch service remains in operation for foot passengers and cyclists and we would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused."
