NHS Worker? Enjoy An Isle Of Wight Fishing Trip Free Of Charge

NHS workers on the Isle of Wight are being given the chance to enjoy a spot of fishing - and it's all for free!

Yarmouth-based Black Rock Charters says it wants to give something back after a tough year.

The business, which is run by husband and wife Sandra and Lee Hall, already offers a free monthly boat trip for service men and women.

They now want to say thank you to our carers. Speaking to Isle of Wight Radio, Sandra says a spot of fishing does wonders for people's mental health:

"I'm really a strong advocate for it and I really believe that getting people outside with like-minded people is so good. I know that, I do a lot of walking and its really good for me. It's just combining the both.

"We saw the opportunity that we were able to do this and it's working. Gradually our name's getting out there and we've been speaking to the outreach in Newport and they do a great job. That's [improving mental health's] predominantly the reason."

The couple both moved to the Island having bought the business three years ago. Lee had previously served in the Royal Marines.

They both agreed that as well as operating the commercial side of the company, they would support veterans and those currently serving.

The free trip lasts for eight hours and all equipment - including fishing rods - are supplied. The only thing NHS workers need to bring is a packed lunch.

It takes place on November 18.

Numbers are sure to go quickly, so If you are an NHS worker and are interested in taking part then you can contact Black Rock Charters on Facebook.
