New Treasurer Sought For Shanklin's Royal British Legion Branch Committee

Royal British Legion

The Royal British Legion Branch Committee in Shanklin needs a new treasurer.

The previous treasurer resigned which means the committee has now been given ‘county supported branch status’.

In order to return to ‘self-governing’ status, a new treasurer needs to be appointed as soon as possible.

Duties will include:

  • Money and accounting
  • Reporting income and expenditure
  • Submitting accounts at the annual general meeting

Training courses are available for anyone who takes up the role - which is open to everyone.

The non-elected role gives you a vote on the branch committee.

The Royal British Legion, formed in 1921 to support the needs of the ex-servicemen in the community.

The branch runs the military and ceremonial side and the club runs the social and entertainment side of things.

Acting Chairman, Tom Bodman told Isle of Wight Radio:

“We normally have one committee meeting a month on a Tuesday at the Royal British Legion Shanklin, at 7pm and the annual general meeting is in November, at the same time and same place. Anyone who is interested in the volunteering role can contact me directly”.

If you are interested or know someone who might be, call Tom on 01983 863817.
