New Dates And Concept Announced For Great Wonderfest

New dates and a new concept have been announced for this year's Great Wonderfest on the Isle of Wight.

Following an intensive period of consultation and meticulous preparation, promoters have revealed plans for a 'safe and spacious family-friendly' festival this summer.

Taking place on new August Bank Holiday Weekend dates, Great Wonderfest organisers say the event is the UK’s first festival to offer pre-booked main arena pitches for families of up to six people.

The Duxmore Farm site - near Newport - has been fully redesigned to follow the latest COVID-19 guidelines.

Providing a safe and spacious area to enjoy music and entertainment, families simply use a theatre style booking system to pre-book a dedicated 3m x 3m pitch for families with children of all ages that is exclusively theirs for the day.

Organisers say the layout of the pitches has been designed to allow safe access and will be distanced in accordance with Government advice, with friendly and professional stewards ensuring families remain safe at all times.

To add to the excitement, festival-goers will be able to ‘pimp’ their pitches giving them a uniquely personal touch.

Taking the first steps to getting the UK’s entertainment industry back on track, Great Wonderfest is leading the way for festivals of the future, with safety and wellbeing at the heart of every element of the experience.

As well as a dedicated customisable pitch, festival-goers will be able to relax and revel in a plethora of traditional festival entertainment and activities throughout the site. From a giant Ferris wheel offering views across the Island, to a range of supervised safely-distanced outdoor family pursuits including forest school and circus skills, there will be festival fun tailored to meet the latest safety guidelines.

Food lovers are in for a treat with a specially devised food court encompassing three restaurants each with outdoor seating plans that can be pre-booked for sittings throughout the day and night.

Take-away food services will also be available, while drinks can be pre-ordered and delivered, cold, to your pitch.

The festival will take ‘contactless’ to the next level, not only by observing physical distancing guidance but also by making all transactions cashless. And hygiene will be the top priority, with extensive hand washing stations and toilet facilities throughout the site - according to organisers.

As campsites open up across the UK, Great Wonderfest has announced ptions to stay on site this August Bank Holiday.

Safely spaced Bell Tents and Tipis are available to hire from Glamping experts who will manage a safe and welcoming environment for campers. Those with motorhomes and caravan can pre-book pitches in a campsite with sanitation facilities.

Duxmore Farm is a large site, however due to guidelines ensuring customer safety there are only a limited allocation of main arena pitches available, so festival-going families are advised to register their interest now by heading to www.greatwonderfest.com and signing-up for more information.

Commenting on the announcement a Great Wonderfest spokesperson said:

"We're excited to announce that the Great Wonderfest is launching a new, safe family festival concept for the August Bank Holiday.

“The Isle of Wight is known as 'Festival Island' so it seems fitting that the Great Wonderfest should be leading the way. Safe and spacious are our watchwords and a lot of thought and thorough planning has gone into developing the idea and ensuring that safety guidelines and the latest Government advice are adhered to every step of the way.

“We hope it will go a long way in helping our live event industry get back to its world-beating best."

Wayne Whittle Isle of Wight Council Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Business Development said:

“It’s good to see an island business with a long history of holding quality events using their initiative to devise a ground-breaking way to hold a festival this August.

"While we remain vigilant about the measures required to keep the public safe, we welcome Great Wonderfest’s strict safety planning and the investment in our economy at such an important time. We wish them every success.”

Great Wonderfest takes place at Duxmore Farm, Isle of Wight from 28-30 August. Line-Up details will be announced very soon.
