New Boat Service To Link Yarmouth And Lymington

A new boat service will hope to plug the gap temporarily left by Wightlink, between Yarmouth and Lymington.

Anderson Boat Cruises will be providing four trips between the Island and mainland, seven days a week.

The service will be passenger-only on board the Coral Star, which has a capacity of around 40 people. The boat's usual routes include pleasure trips around The Needles and private hire trips between Yarmouth and Lymington.

The charges are £20 per adult and £15 per child, with bookings taken over the phone (01983 760212).

Jay Smith-Dowse, from Ask Jay Services, told Isle of Wight Radio:

"Due to the change in regulations we are now allowed to run a service between Lymington and Yarmouth.

"With the absence of Wightlink, we at Anderson Boat Cruises have taken upon ourselves to operate a vital ferry link for the people of the West Wight and the mainland.

"We are starting it while Wightlink is cancelled and will continue if there is the demand."

Face masks must be worn as the boat is classed as public transport and hand sanitiser is available on board. Anyone with symptoms of COVID-19 must not travel.

It's not known when Wightlink's Yarmouth to Lymington service will resume.
