Nettlestone And Seaview Shed Project To Benefit From Co-op Community Fund

The Nettlestone and Seaview Shed has been chosen to benefit from the Co-op Local Community Fund.

The last 18 months have been really challenging for small, charitable groups, with the pandemic drastically affecting fundraising efforts.

Local members are being urged to choose the group as its cause, so it can deliver the project and help more people in Nettlestone, Seaview and Pondwell.

We’re raising funds to improve and/or replace some of our woodworking equipment. To provide a “social” space for Men and Women to meet, to make and to do small wood working projects.

Loneliness and social isolation are just a couple of the many challenges faced by the elderly in our society.

The ‘Men in Sheds’ movement was established as a means to help combat this problem amongst mostly, but not exclusively elderly men. The ‘Shed ‘provides an environment in which individuals are able to make things, help with repairs in the Parish - and to chat. It rekindles the camaraderie of the workplace that many miss once retired, and it has a benefit to the wider community.

Funds are spent on equipment for the workshop, materials such as wood for making items, for the upkeep of the Shed, for training and visits.

As is the case for all Sheds everywhere, Nettlestone and Seaview is already fulfilling its objectives.

When members buy selected Co-op branded products and services, 1p from every pound spent goes to support local causes.
