Needles Coastwatch Awarded Thousands Of Pounds

Left to Right- Annette Gibb (NCI Fund Raising Officer), Chris Beane (Festival Treasurer), Chris Waddington (Festival Chairman), Terry Dimmick (NCI Station Manger), Lesley and Don Tregear (Festival Committee).

Needles Coastwatch Institute (NCI) has been awarded £3,000.

Organisers of last month's Yarmouth Sea Songs and Shanties Festival presented NCI with a cheque on Tuesday (19).

Money was raised from collections and donations at the free event – a significant proportion of which was collected my NCI volunteers themselves.

The festival, now in its third year, enjoyed record crowds and plans are already afoot to bring the event back next year.

Terry Dimmick, Station Manager of the Needles Coastwatch said:

“NCI Needles are extremely grateful to receive this donation, as like many charities, our fundraising opportunities have been limited during the last eighteen months.

"The donation will be used to support the daily function of the watch station and enable the Watch keepers to continue to provide support to our Search and Rescue partners with 'eyes along the coast' for another 365 days.”

It's hoped the 2022 Festival will be held on the May 27, 28 and 29 – along with a larger marquee, more seating and improved staging.
