Isle Of Wight Drag Queen Attracting National Attention

Fanny Quivers (left) is gaining a national following.

Last night (Tuesday) saw Isle of Wight drag performer Fanny Quivers take another leap on her mission to secure the title of Drag Idol UK.

The popular performer won her third open heat for the nationwide drag competition at the historic Admiral Duncan in Old Compton Street, Soho.

With three entries allowed per act, Tuesday’s show made it a hattrick of first stage triumphs for Quivers, who has worked to become the Island’s busiest drag queen over the past year.

Previous winners of the competition include RuPaul’s Drag Race UK contestant Baga Chipz who herself was on last night's judging panel, complementing Fanny for being ‘fabulous, funny, filthy’ and ‘a star’.

Following the success at previous heats, Fanny Quivers has already competed in one heat final, gaining the first runner-up place, and will contest the remaining two heat finals later this month.

Fanny said:

"‘I started doing drag because I love to make people happy and spread some joy.

"The support I have received from my audiences on the Island has been overwhelming and I’m so grateful and excited to see what comes next.

"This journey so far has been incredibly fun, if a little bonkers! It makes me happy to continue to proudly represent the Island I love alongside wonderfully talented entertainers."

Among her other regular weekly shows and appearances, Fanny will also be hosting three contestants from the most recent series of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK when they visit for the Wight Proms in August.
