Motorist Charged After Failing To Stop For Police

A motorist has been charged with driving offences after failing to stop for police, near Shanklin.

It’s alleged that a Mercedes, which was suspected of being driven without an MOT, tax, licence or insurance, failed to stop for police when the blue lights went on along Shanklin Road in Sandford.

The car was subsequently pulled over by officers yesterday (Thursday), and the driver was arrested and charged.

A small amount of cannabis was also seized from the vehicle.

A Hampshire Constabulary spokesperson said:

"Craig Peta-Stuart, aged 44, from Melville Road in Gosport, was charged with driving without insurance, driving without a valid test certificate, driving without a licence, failing to stop for police and failing to provide a specimen for analysis.

"He was bailed to appear at Isle of Wight Magistrates’ Court on 16 November."
